It's definitely a film that dulcimer players need to see. The sequel seems to be pointed towards the instrument in other parts of the country and the overall evolution of the dulcimer. They just got started, so time will tell.
Having already seen the film and purchased my own DVD copy, I am just delighted that folks in other parts of the country get to enjoy this fine piece of documentary filmmaking. FOTMD members would love the film solely because of the subject matter, but what really gets us giddy is the high quality of the production. The words and images have been painstakingly chosen and the production quality is outstanding. I was particularly jazzed to see that the material originally packaged as "nature's design" was incorporated into the final version of the film. And I love the juxtaposition of the Santa Cruz hills and the smooth curves of the Rugg brothers dulcimers with the violent, rocky Big Sur coastline and Joellen's radical dulcimer designs. Great work!

Great picture and even greater news!!!
That's what I'm sayin', Ben! The original film set a high mark, but the sequel should be absolutely amazing as well. They know what they are doing for sure.

Delete CommentBoy...what a great day. It was so great to see old friends in Mountain View, Arkansas. I was so glad to finally see the Hearts of the Dulcimer film by Wayne and Patricia and to finally meet them in person. They did an awesome job! I am so excited about what they are doing for the dulcimer and look forward to the sequel.

Sequel?!? A sequel is in the works? Wonderful. I enjoyed "Hearts," but thought there must be more to tell. Now maybe we'll get it.
