@Beth-T, notice that the Blue Lion has a floating bridge. You might have to adjust it to get the intonation right. (If you need some tips on how to do that, send me a PM.) And be careful when you change strings. You might want to change one-at-a-time to keep the bridge in the right spot.
I got my Blue Lion IC several years ago from another player who wanted to play drone style but found the bass was too loud on the Blue Lion. That big bass sound is one reason I love it!
@Dusty you’re right, the bass is impressive! Thanks for the advice re floating bridge. I bought the Blue Lion from Geoff at revelsmusic.co.uk who frequently attends one of the Nonsuch meetings nearest me. So I do have someone experienced to turn to if I have problems when I change strings. The BL is good for playing with louder instruments, but does not have the sweet sustain of my Folkcraft or even the DAD Ginger. However, the walnut/Engelmann spruce Folkcraft sometimes has too much sustain for some purposes. I’m constantly fascinated by the differences between dulcimers - and the difference the choice of pick makes to the sound of the dulcimer. I’m learning all the time - and constantly tempted to buy just another…

Thanks Dusty! How do you find the Blue Lion? I must admit I love/hate relationship with it. Some days I love it, some days I'm not that enamoured with it at all! It packs more punch than my Folkcraft series H, but it's not as sweet. I've now also bought another Ginger, so I have one tuned in DAD as well as GDG. It's walnut/cherry and I'm quite impressed with its loudness and tone, even without the possum board I've also acquired. I must admit I find the shorter VSLs easier to manage.
Oh this is fun to listen to - makes my feet want to dance! 😊🎶👏
Glad it had the desired effect Cindy! And it’s good to be able to get my fingers dancing when the legs and feet are no longer as obliging as they used to be! 😂
Cheers Jamie! My fingers are managing faster tunes now - though I'm still trying to get my head around the difference between jigs, reels, hornpipes etc!
I've recently bought this 2001 Blue Lion 1C dulcimer from Geoff Black at https://revelsmusic.co.uk/ . It's louder and punchier than the Folkcraft H series I usually play. But the Folkcraft has much more sustain. Great fun to compare the two :-)

Absolutely charming, Beth! Love it!
I have that exact dulcimer, by the way.
