I like the sound as well on the table as in your lap.   May I suggest that you get one of those black ADJUSTABLE small tables that Walmart sells or take off the top and make a wooden top and use the adjustable legs and make a TABLE that is almost the height of your lap.  you'll like playing on that more and it will look good too.  aloha, irene
