I just saw your smallpipes. Very impressive. I checked out the maker and he seems to be the best. I have long wanted a set of Uilleann pipes, but never made the commitment. I am very happy for you. Pipe on!
Thank you Bob! The maker of these is in Moscow! A Russian bagpipe maker (of various pipes, including the Uillieann Pipes) and amazing bagpipe performer as well. This custom set built for me was a three year wait, but definitely worth it!
Your playing and the sound of your Smallpipes are gorgeous. I wish I could play some Scottish tunes with you together with my hammered dulcimer (unfortunately I cannot play my whistles any more) That would be great!

hooooooooo. these are wonderful. I had a great guy come to Nauvoo one time and he played in the Nauvoo Bag Pipe band for 8 years or so. His wife played the big drums, what a pair. She wanted a harp and I said that you couldn't hear a harp next to a bagpipe. He said, "oh no, not like the small pipes of Scotland!" and he brought his Scottish Smallpipes. He played in the key of A as well and I flipped my levers on my harp and played tunes with him. I was crying after the first tune....wayyyyyyyy cool. That day I sold a harp. NOW BOB, if EVER you come to Nauvoo, you can play that lovely small pipes in my round house, OKAY. Love the tune here as well. Last year I had the whole pipe band come and play a bunch of tunes at the bottom of my driveway....it was a surprise. I LOVED IT. aloha, irene

Very nice, Bob. Sounds great. I agree..they do have a mellower sound.
Yes, these don't blow you over with volume (like the Great Highland Pipes do). They dont have a canonical bore and hence are quieter.

Strumelia, I had no idea there were so many types of bagpipes. Before the age of the internet, I never was even aware of them all! These are very special pipes and will stay in the family for generations I hope!

Thank you Steven- yes these pipes have a lovely depth and warmth. The tune is Mrs. Hamilton of Pitcaithlands by Nathaniel Gow (1763-1831).

Just wanted to share this video of my new Scottish Smallpipes, made by the master Alexander Anistratov. It was three years in the making from start to finish, and every bit worth the wait. Materials are Cocobolo, Boxwood mounts and bronze Ferrules.
They are in key of "A".
