traditional song played on McSpadden cherry Ginger dulcimer tuned to D# A# D# also known as "Dearest Dear". Played using a (McSpadden) opossum board for added volume.
soooooooooooooooo beautifully done. lovely voice....this song is a haunting sound of old. thank you for all your practicing. I went to look at other songs you've one on youtube....you're REALLY GOOD. much practice is evident. aloha, irene
Thanks Paula! I play mostly by ear...I have several versions of the song I like which helps me fix the melody in my head...and I work out songs in a standard DAD tuning..using those chords. When I have the melody, I then just retune up or down 1/2 or whole steps using the same chord shapes until I can comfortably sing it. I plan to put out some videos breaking down some of the songs (on a YouTube Channel & blog), make a lyric and chord sheet available and demonstrate my strum or picking patterns etc. This will be one of the first I do, it's pretty straight forward...as well as a contemporary song, Time After Time.
I appreciate that several of you have recently found this song though it was put up several weeks ago. Sometimes the vids get buried among so many submissions. Thank you so much for your lovely comments.
How beautiful the Appalachian balads. You excel in demonstrating their beauty. Great job.
thank you Glen, I'm trying to educate myself about these old songs.

Beautifully done, Janene. This was a great treat. Your playing and singing beautifully enhance one another.
Thanks so much Irene...I do strum every chance I get....during commercials when watching TV included
