Robert, that's a very good looking instrument. I like the sapele/spruce combination. My song has a Taylor guitar of that configuration and it is a sweet sounding instrument. I am sure yours sounds sweetly also. I am glad your are enjoying your own handiwork and sharing it with the rest of us.

This is now my favorite dulcimer of all time. Or until I build a better one. I converted it to three strings and play it mostly as a noter drone instrument... I'm beginning to think that solid core baltic birch plywood sides and backs makes the best sounding dulcimers... Bob.

I built this dulcimer spring - summer 2011. Building it took my mind off of my farm work...Its the first time I used birch plywood for the sides and back and it gave me a chance to use some very beautiful sapele veneer. Its my number 1 everyday playing dulcimer mostly tuned DAD. 4 equidastant strings fingerstyle picking,on a purely diatonic fretboard... Bob.
Thanks everyone. Ken, the sapele is a veneer I applied over birch plywood...Bob.
