Bob I admire your aesthetics in the shapes you create. That long peghead and gorgeous scroll...the long tapering tail end, and the lovely bouts with their nipped in waist. You are making beautiful and majestic dulcimers with so much character.
Thank you so much Irene! I was thinking how to present these and I like your idea (thoough I don't know yet how to do that!). I am looking forward to them being finished and making music.
I hoped to have these these done for a Craft Fair on May 19th- looks like I may reach that goal, but keeping in mind that when I rush a project I ruin a project
MARVELOUS workmanship. When these are done, looks like they need a slow love tune to show off their beauty. I wish I knew how to carve the scroll head like you do. the hearts on the black walnut are more then lovely. I have learned to make these on my dulcimers....by just admiring your work on some other dulcimers that had that heart on them. You've done a GREAT JOB on these. aloha, irene
Dulcimer on the left: Black Walnut top, Mahogany sides, scroll and tail, Bloodwood bottom, Cherry-capped walnut fingerboard. On the right: All Black Walnut with Butternut top.
I can dig it.
They're my "Corset" model dulcimers
Two elliptical dulcimers wearing tight belts?
Nice work, Bob. Visually, your instruments are both elegant and interesting.
Thank you for your compliment, Strumelia!
