I built this Mountain Dulcimer and case back in '84.
I had no plans to follow, just what I learned from a Foxfire book that I found in the library. It's aged well!
That's a beautiful first instrument. Blessings on you move Bob. As a former NJ resident, I understand the desire to move, but I'll stay here in Pennsylvania and visit my niece in NC.
Thanks Strumelia! It occurred to me tonight that when I was building this Mountain Dulcimer, I had actually held only one Mountain Dulcimer before (from a maker I would never know). I was so lucky to have found the Foxfire book that showed how to build one!
Love those tuning pegs, Bob! How's the move been going?
Thanks Steven!
We are t-minus two weeks and counting. I will be driving down in a few days anyway for a short visit as the building for my shop is being delivered to site. Then back to NJ and loading up the moving truck and heading home to NC on June 24th!
Have you had it all these years or did it just make its way back for work?
I have had it all along, stored in the case. I think I looked at it briefly about five years ago. The strings are ancient LOL. But today I really looked it over and smiled mightily. It sounds wonderful and full. Lots of great memories there...

"The dulcimer sings a sweet song."
From NJ to NC... that's quite a change! Enjoy your new adventures Bob.
Thank you Strumelia, Yes it is, but a really good change!
