A Hymn, played on the Scheitholt

musician/member name: People & Blogs
Duration: 00:01:20
description:
Sound testing my newly built Scheitholt. Can be played either on table top or lap. I noticed less volume but a warmer tone when played on the lap as opposed on a table top.

Hi Bob

Does it make any difference to the sound using a possum board?

I haven't played it on a possum board, but my thought is that the sound will be even more full, like when played on a table.

Bill S:

Great sound.  Did you play extra strings too?

Bill, yes the drones are strummed as well; I try to hit them on certain beats. When not actually strummed, they still do vibrate anyway, providing a subtle resonance ("sympathetic strings")

That combination of woods makes for a very nice sound!

Black Walnut & Butternut is a winning combination!
