No wonder my beard looks darker! Thanks John; I have just worked backwards through the Nonsuch newsletters and found the article which gave me the information which I was about to pass on to Foggers, on switching on the computer I found you had beaten me to it. See you soon? John

This photo was taken in April 1999 - a little longer ago than John Henry thought. Jean was over in England to take part in a "pan-celtic" concert at the Barbican in London, as a representative of Appalachia and its musical traditions (presented as a relative of celtic music). After the concert she and her husband George came to Gloucester to stay for a few days with their long-time friend Peter Kennedy. We in the Nonsuch Dulcimer Club took the opportunity to arrange a workshop in Dursley at which Jean sang and talked about her life and music. It was wonderful!

Never mind all that! Where did you learn to play and sing the way you do?, let alone being able to 'show it to the world!!!' Hello, nice of you to make contact. Cos' I'm getting old I don,t always remember things so good. but John Shaw will almost certainly be able to give you full details,he is much more a mountain dulcimer man than I am. It must have been at least six years ago (my beard still had a little black in it !) Be nice to hear you play in the flesh, as it were, sometime. Regards, John
