Thanks for sharing this, I enjoyed it very much. Had it playin on the side but every time Karen played a slow solo it drew me back in, especially Jesus loves me. Thank you!
Patty...the skeeters were the biggest culprits...made the wasps seem kinda small! I think Spam would have attracted more critters than it would have chased away!
I've been stung by a hornet (wasp family). It hurts!!! I used vinegar to neutralize the venom. Yep, that took away the hurt. JK, Karen, the video makes it look like you're inside. You all did great in spite of the stinging insects. You know, a Spam label may have repelled those wasps .

Luckily the sound guy doubled as a wasp technician before we arrived. LOL. He sprayed himself with wasp spray and had to go home and shower just prior to our arrival, but at least we didn't have to fight swarms of wasps. LOL
What Karen said, plus bug spray (which we left at home)...this environment requires LOTS of bug spray!

Thanks Randy, Dusty and Dana for listening. It was a fun day and we had a big time. Hey Dusty...I highly recommend the fishman acoustic amp. They work great and you can plug in 1 mic and one instrument in each amp. That's really all we need. The rebel state park just placed a microphone in front of the amp and ran in through their system. It worked great.
Yep, we each have one dulcimer and one mic plugged in (per amp). We balanced with each other and then they stuck mics in front of the amps to run us through their system. They had some really nice equipment, but we figured that this approach would be the quick/easy way to go. There was a hunting dog show going on pre-concert and we were trying our best not to disturb it any more than necessary. Thanks again for the nice comments!
Thanks for the details, John. I'm impressed with the size of your repertoire. And as I mentioned, the contrast between the up-beat strumming tunes, both the songs and the fiddle tunes, and the fingerpicking really creates a varied musical experience. Very impressive.
I was looking into getting a Fishman Loudbox Mini myself. Are you guys going directly into the Fishman with no pre-amp?
Dusty, thank you so much! The show was roughly 90 minutes. We were originally thinkin' that it was going to be two hours, but the dog show went a bit late. Karen does a great job with the fingerpicking for sure, and she had some planned on the set list, but when the allergies got her voice...well...she added a bit more. The video doesn't have all of the tunes on it, but it's a pretty fair "mish-mash" of what we did. Take away the allergies and skeeters (and cake batter lol) and it went pretty smoothly for us. The sound was basically running our Fishman amps (by mic) through their house system. We really appreciate your kind remarks, and thanks for taking the time to watch!
Wow! You guys are genuine professionals. How long was your whole show? The excerpts alone are over 12 minutes. It'sa special treat to hear songs you first debuted here being shared with the wider world. And Karen's fingerpicking offers a nice contrast to the more common upbeat tunes. Great job all around. I can't even muster the confidence to play in an open mike, so I'm in awe of you guys.
How are you guys amplified? You have a nice warm sound there.
Randy...it was weird (and thank you)! There are a bunch of places where it sounds like we have a tom-tom player with us (strange overtones too), but it's the cake batter lol! It was one of the most unusual things that we've encountered on this little dulci-journey. Thanks a bunch for checkin' it out, and we hope that you're doin' great!
Good show JK/KK! These situations (fast fret/pine) happen pretty regular at these type of shows huh? Always something different. The mark of a good pro musician is to comb thru the hairballs and put on a good show consistently. You definitely earn your money!
An aside if you please? I built one of the fastest pinewood derby cars of all time...well...uh.....me'n my son did... : )...I had spray silicone and powdered graphite both at the big race....for lubrication. Same thing happened...silicone + graphite = last place.....took me a while to get over it....f'real....I still ain't over it.....
LOL! The really VALUABLE lesson that we learned during this little adventure is that Fast Fret + pine pollen = cake batter. I've never seen anything quite like it! Ya gotta love the great outdoors lol...

Thanks Stephanie for watching. There were a few finger picking things planned to perform, but since the "pine" curtain hit and I do mean literally ...LOL there was some extra picking that I had to add due to my congested nose and scratchy throat. Not much singing going on here...cough, couch, sneeze, sneeze...LOL. Now if we can just figure out the trick to recording fingerpicking, we'll be in cookin'...
Thanks Wendy for listening. I'm so glad you enjoyed.
Thanks Wendy! Karen's playing does the same thing to me!

True dat, Karen...true dat lol!
LOL Patty...you can cure anything with SPAM and duct tape. LOL
