Lida, I built it just to try something different. Yes I believe JH could realy coax some sweet sounds from it. My playing is still very badic, still learning. I would love to hear how it could really sound. All the instruments I make are allways for sale, so I hope someone gets it that can make it sing.

I bet our friend John Henry could play the tar out of that zither- he has a wonderful way of playing the melody string and then sweeping over the drones only at certain times, to truly beautiful effect! i think that's the key to playing these dulcimer ancestors with lots of drone strings, just sweeping over some of the drones at certain times while playing, not on every beat like we sometimes do on our mountain dulcimers or on Galax style.
