After all the nice comments about Murillo's Lesson here's another old Sacred Harp tune. I think the melody's pretty "haunting." It's played in DAA on a dulcimer with no name, but initials inside. I'm playing it 3 string since I broke one of the melody strings. Didn't know it at the time of purchase, but its string spacing is exactly like John Blosser's Stockard. Doesn't look like much, but sounds good to me.
I Love this !
Love the melody and the dulcimer sounds great too. Great job!
Leave it alone Rob, there are others to be bought !!!

Thank you, Wayne, for those kind remarks. I've loved the old shape note tunes ever since I first heard them. I've always tried to play some throughout the years.
Mike: Fa Sol La... yep you've been to at least 1 singing school! I love those melodies and their harmonies! So simple, just 3 parts, so modal, so touching. Most of the old ones fit the dulcimer very well.
Cheryl, if we do get get together when you come up to Elkins, I'll be sure to bring that one with me. Now, the quandary.... Do I add a 6+ fret to it or leave it alone?
Thanks all
Lovely tune. And agree with all, your dulcimer has a really nice sound to me as well. Can't put my finger on exactly what Im hearing....would need to do that in person! Old timey but very resonant is what I'd say from the recording.
Sam... It's an ebay find... didn't pay too much for her and was amazed at the sound when I tuned her up and hit a note or two. It's the same one I play amplified on "Snowblind Friend." Glad you liked it. If you come up to Wartz'n'All, I'll make sure I bring it with me.
Very nice RN!
Rob that is one of the clearest voices I have ever heard from a dulcimer. Nice job of playing, but I just can't stress enough at how clear the dulcimer sounds.
DAA rules... Sounds really nice, Rob.
Rob, sounds good to me too. That's a pretty melody
