Thanks, Carrie, Cheryl, and Strumelia, for your kind comments. There was much music on this trip as others brought a fiddle and a banjo, but I played guitar for most of our jams. The 8-year-old kid who took this photo had just started learning violin. He could only play a couple of tunes, but we made sure to play along with him on Mary Had a Little Lamb and the like. Then we played a bunch of stuff in a droning style and just let him play around bowing the A and D strings on his violin and getting a feel for what it's like to play with other people. The musical interlude captured here was during some down time as we gathered strength for a hike in one of the groves of giant sequoia redwoods.
Love the picture, Dusty...you playing out in nature with the gals.
Thanks, Geekling, it was indeed a great time. This was our fourth or fifth year in a row, so a genuine tradition is in the making.
Thanks, Dana. It sure was fun.
Great pic Dusty, looks like everyone is having a great time.

Wonderful photo. They will all remember you and the beautiful music you make! Maybe soem of them will grow up to be dulcimer players because of you.
