This TMB was finished today, October 5, and will be staying in Michigan. My customer wanted a traditional poplar music box with a checkerboard on the back. But he wanted it to look old. So I worked it over with my secret "bag of tricks".
Robin, you would need to either 1) play the music box, or 2) play checkers. I don't know if it's possible to do both at the same time. Dropped checkers probably sound the same as checkers dropped on any other Tennessee music box out there...
So doggone cool you put the checkerboard on the back, John! Poplar yields great sound for strumming-- how does it sound with checkers dropped on it? :)
