Experimenting with some different noter techniques using "Liza Jane" as the vehicle (DAD tuning). John Keane, mountain dulcimer. This was really fun to mess with!
Thanks Steve! It's a fun tune, but the 1+ fret really opens it up to more variation and exploration. So glad that you enjoyed!

Really enjoyed your posting. I like playing Lisa Jane but have never made it sound like that!Guess I'll have to keep practising
Thanks Gail and Peter! One thing that I try to tell people is that this instrument is only limited by the amount of fun that we are willing to have with it. I just enjoy trying things just to see what will happen...sometimes good, sometimes bad, but always fun.
Patty, I play in DAA...just haven't recorded anything in DAA recently. I started in DAA, but found after a few months that DAD was more to my liking in general (it just makes more sense to me). I would encourage all players to experiment with various tunings because there's some really neat stuff out there in ALL tunings.
Karen, Randy, Steph, and Rob...thank y'all! I was just messin' with some different stuff here and there and ol' Liza ended up being the tune that I chose. The noter is really fun. I get accused of not playing with it, but I actually have a collection of noters and get a kick out of using them. It's just fun to approach things differently sometimes...whether it be the strum pattern, picking pattern, two strings instead of one, bass string, 1+ fret, or whatever...it's about fun. Each one of y'all mentioned in this post knows how the dulcimer the dulcimer has helped me to recover from burnout on other instruments and I appreciate the kind words very much!

Awesome playing honey. You make noter playing look effortless and I know it's not. Great job!

I've only heard the good and none of the bad from you, John.

A nice variation, John - made me smile!
This is great! You are so talented and creative.
Thanks Ken! Variety is the spice of life!
John, that was really slick! I love the "walking" intro and then... off you go!
Thanks Marion!

Does this mean DAA is on the horizon?
Thanks BG! I appreciate that very much! We need to see if we can hook up again this summer.
Very nice JK! Keep experimenting - I like the results! :)
Thanks Helen! I was kind of doing the same thing and just started messin' with it. Please take anything that you can use.

Way to go, John. I think you were trying to outrun the hog on your shirt there. That was really good!
