Had to interrupt my playing "Catch Up" after Berea. Wanted to post this recommendation before Larry did his Lake Odessa workshop today. <sigh!> It's still worth knowing.
On Tuesday Larry did a great workshop in Marine City. Signed up for it a year ago. After Berea I was really dragging, but VERY glad I went. Dunno if he'll give the same presentation, but I'm sure it will be both fun and useful. I have a genetic problem with my left pinky finger & he helped me figure how to work around it. His talk on fingering may have been a breakthrough for me at other workshops since my use of Mixolydian is only when tab requires it or I'm in a workshop.
This is why I tend to be the "echo" at a workshop, because I don't regularly play Mixolydian.
I am going to Natchez this week & I saw you will be there later in the year. I was wondering if you have any contact info. to any dulcimer groups that might be there.
Thanks Larry! Dulcimers are growing in this area, which really makes me happy. I'd certainly love to attend Dulcimer U sometime. Tom and I travel a lot but we look for places that offer dulcimer and one of his instruments; fiddle, mandolin or banjo. We just returned from Allegheny Echos, WV and had a grand time with old time music.
Well, I've taught my first big workshop! There were 16 people present, many never touched a dulcimer and due to my teaching students, I took dulcimers for them! We had a grand time. So thanks to your teaching , among others, I'm passing on the dulcimer work!
Sorry it has taken me SINCE APRIL to respond to your friends' request. Are hardly get on Facebook let alone the computer! New Years' resolution is to do better connecting with others on the web. Hope you both are beginning a good, postive & hopeful New Year. We started it off with our new grandson being born on my birthday! 11.28.12 Hope to see you and Elaine as soon as possible. Jeff is so looking foward to working with you. Warmly~ janet
