Thank you all for your kind words, I must give a big thank you to Rob for the wonderful playing of my Prichard Repro. , because without him the dulcimer wouldn't have sounded so good. I am planning on making a small number of these at first, to see if there is any interest . Anyone wishing to have more information just holler at me on here . Again Thank You All.
You have both done an excelent job there The false nut shifts the key from D to A so it is quite a change! It is surprising just how many old time tunes don't use the 7th of the scale and so they will fit either tuning - as a player you just need to choose which one fits your voice best!!! And of course that little false nut will give the player access to all the mixolidian key of A fiddle tunes. It was quite a surprise to see that wear mark on the old Pritchard photo you posted - I thought that a dulcimer may turn up eventually showing such a mark but it is not something that folks have been looking for and I've never seen mention ofsuch marks before.
I agree with you Rob that it would be good to see more Pritchard reproduction dulcimers around. Chord/melody playing has pushed dulcimer design in other directions for the last 30 years and so we have lost sight of the beautiful, shimmering tone of these early designs. I've just been on a short holiday and, despite all the choice of modern dulcimers I have, the dulcimer I carried with me was my Ed Thomas repo a few noters and some quills as that's the instrumentthat gives the most back when I play it
Thank you everyone for the kind words. Robin, I agree about the "sound" of the instrument. Playing it with the noter and false nut to try help out that "sound" was fun too, but next time I'm going to try a quill. I hope this gets as popular in the world of reproductions as the Ed Thomas repros are. Wayne & Cheryl, y'all are always too kind; thanks. Sam, Robin, Patty, JohnK, Dana, Carrie: thank you as well. All the good words must first go to Kevin for making such a wonderful instrument!
My favorite kinda playing and sound! I like your medley and your noter-drone playing sounds wonderful. That prichard repro sounds darn good too. Well heck, I could just said I liked the whole durn thing! :)
Thanks, Rob! Though I've heard Little Rosewood Casket before, it's not a tune I've got in my head. The next time I hear it played I'll likely have to ask the name again. lol
You're playing drives me nuts Rob, I get all squirrelly and want to play just like you, be you.

Robin thanks for the comente on the dulcimer , It means a lot coming from you. That false nut semmed to be a hit with Rob, sure changed things a bit.
Well that dulcimer has a lovely tone - a 'proper' dulcimer sound if I may say so And it was beautifully demonstrated Rob
It sounded perfect played outside, just perfect!!!!
