Nice work, Rob. I like the filler and stuff you add on the dulcimer in between vocal lines.
I had almost forgotten about this tune, but it's probably the first tune I ever played on any instrument. I strummed it on a ukulele and only played two one-finger chords. I must have been 6 or 7 at most, but I got a big kick out of singing "with a 45 strapped around her bosom." I felt like I was saying a dirty word.
That was great Rob, I'm used to just playing melody and was very impressed with the accompaniment you used there. A voice can make all the difference, shame so few dulcimer players sing anymore. Strange you should mention NLCR, there was a snippet on the local news(London) about Tom Paley, 84 years old now and still going strong, a regular at the Islington club.
Thank you all very much. The tuning was an expedient to (somewhat) fit my voice. I used a false nut to get this tuning on Kevin M's 1st Prichard Reproduction and I actually remembered it. I've played this on guitar since I learned it as a kid from a New Lost City Ramblers 8-track tape I have. It had to be a mixolydian tuning to get the right sound, not quite major, but not quite minor either. Having the 6+ fret on this is almost necessary for chording.
Now, as for the cd, I've thought about it and though about it, and I'm working on getting some better equipment to make recording it easier. We'll see how successful I am at it.
Been trying to pluck up courage to post a version of this I recorded some time ago, inspired by Don Pedi's crack at it. Don't think I shall bother now!!! Really enjoyed it Rob, thank you

Thanks, Terry, for resurrecting this oldie. Appreciate your kind comment.
Thanks, Harry. Glad you enjoyed it!
You bring a tear to my eyes! You play and sing so well, and I'm happy to watch your work every day! You are awesome!
