There was a thread back a bit about what folks prefer to play on. Most chose ONE STRING. silly me, didn't try it until one broke at the festival. Don Pedi said that two strings were to bring more volume, but they really don't. I'm gonna check that out with my other dulcimers. The next dulcimer I'm making will have only 3 strings. aloha, irene
wow, what a "happy teardrop" this one is. When I was at the OLD PAL DULCIMER FESTIVAL, I broke one of my melody strings. What a blessing. It's soooooooo much easier to play with one string there. Don Peti uses only three string dulcimers. Easier to tune to other modes too. Lucky person in South Carolina. aloha, irene

I agree with that, Irene. Double melody strings are great, but I prefer single.
