Good sentiments, John Henry. We owe much to Rod Westerfield/"Deputy Mo"- the 'encourager extraordinare' of all beginners.
You give me too much credit, but I will certainly accept your gracious thanks.
I'm a huge fan of your wonderful music recordings and videos which always inspire me. Whatever 'rusticness' they may have merely adds to their 'ten thousand charms'.
Thank you Lisa, and while this may not be the right 'thread' to say this in, thank you once again for providing us with this great site, just think , you would never of had the opportunity of hearingmy somewhat 'rustic' attampts atmaking musichad you not !!! So perhaps a belated dedication might be in order .
This playing of 'TenThousand Charms", for Strumelia , without whom few of us would ever have known each other!
And as has been said elsewhere, at this anniversary time it would be good to remember 'Deputy Mo', who offered so many of us so much encouragement back at 'the beginning'. I meant to repost the little tribute I once made to him about now, but we have had another little setback here which has been occupying my time these last couple of days. Rest well friend Rod !
Just watched this again tonight. I just love the texture and tone of your playing here, John Henry.
So beautiful to listen to it on a clear moonlit night. I'd love to hear one or two new TMB bowed tunes from you soon- that box has such an expressive soulful voice when you play it.
Thank you Martha! Appro the bow, the mail man had delivered it but a short while before, and the video was all a bit of a rush for various reasons. I note what you are saying, and will happily welcome comment on correct bow use and technique
(sorry for my slow reply, I have been away from home for a while)
Thanks for watching and making comment Lexie, and thank you Lisa for its resurrection !
John
(nearly deleted it recently as part of my 'pre-switch' clearout !)
Oh so beautiful John. Really nice of you to dedicate it to our hard working Lady.
I believe your playing of this song is worth 10,000 charms, I find it peaceful.
Wonderful to watch and listen to this again on a cold white snowy day today.... so haunting, inspiring, and beautiful. Thank you John Henry.
John Henry, I really liked that. I think I will have to try and learn that one . I just keep going back to it.
John Henry, you are such a sweetheart.
Thanks for the thought Robin !

So beautiful and haunting!
-Your bow looks a bit tight though...i'm scared the hair will pull out or the wood will crack!
Wonderful!!! I loved it!
Hmm! Yes Val, complete with a bungled start and wearing me worn out slippers ? I think not, lol.
Thank you all for your comments, I do appreciate the time you spend in watching my less than perfect offerings. Good for a giggle I suppose !!!
John
Great work. Calm and soothing. Love the sound of the TMB.
You do it all, John! Now that I am settling in the new home, I aim to build one of those TMBs. I'll probably have to bug you with a question or two...
nicely done John. I can't wait to see how mt TMB is going to sound. I hope as good as yours.
Very nice John Henry!
Such a wonderful technique...well done!
