Played this time on a replica of an Early Virginia dulcimer, tuned DAd, strung with 0.011, 0.011 plain steel, and a 0.022 Nickle wound. For 'Patty from Virginia', 'cos she asked me to !!! Consider it a late anniversary pressie ! Played partly noter/drone, partly melody/chord, (sorta!) Apologies for bad camera work.
Glad that you enjoyed it Cindy, as I remarked below, a simple tune that lends itself to 'experimentation',does'nt use many notes, sogreat to doodle around with ,IMO !
John
John - this was absolutely lovely! So peaceful! Added to my favorites!
Chuckle, no fili, this is one that I did'nt bother letting you try (its diatonic) On reflection, perhaps I should have, 'cos its mean tone fretted (goes well with the voice !) and has a slightly shorter VSL (26") than the one you are using !
Thanks for the comment, and it is an easy piece to play, and play around with !
John
We're so glad that you came out of the closet! LOL Seriously Great Playing! Loved It!
PS. Loved the shirt
Lovely, John. And that dulcimer. . . You've built another jewel, my friend.
Beautiful playing John Henry! Pretty arrangement of that song
Thank you Brian ! I started out playing the dulcimer with a noter when you were nobut a lad, but then fell in with bad company (sorry JohnS) and spent long years attempting to do what I saw others do so well, all to no avail! After leaving off the HD and returning to my first love, I fell naturally back into noter'drone style, tho' I still go into the closet now and then to play 'the other way'
John
John Henry - beautiful playing, beautiful dulcimer, just beautiful all around! And it may be the first time I've seen you play chord/melody style? Maybe not, but I like it! :)
Bobby, great to hear from you, have missed you !!! Thank you for the comment, always appreciated !
John
Chuckle, I have just answered this comment under another vid, sorry John ! Yes, I like it, am almost certainly going to make another early Virginia style dulcimer of some description, I'm hooked !
John
Beautiful, John. That's dulcimer with a capital D!
I can hear that the instrument's sound is really developing in a gorgeous way.
John Henry, your music just gets better and better.
John H., you are very much appreciated. I love the anniversary present
Steph, I had already posted a version of this , bowed on a TMB, this latest was to fulfill the wishes of one 'Patty from Virginia' ! Thank you for listening Rob, comment much appreciated !
John
Jim, Carrie and Wayne, thank you for making comment, makes it worthwhile to know that folk will listen to my stuff, warts and all !
John
