Great. I have a couple of dulcimers custom made with really unique marks in the wood. Worm holes, nail holes, knots, etc. They do not affect the tone and make the dulcimer very unique, one of a kind. One has walnut from an Ohio farm best guess harvested in the early 1900's before 1920. Another of poplar with rusted nail holes that is from a house we think was built in the mid 1880's. A poplar piece with worm holes more attractive than wormy chestnut. All a part of the wonderful hobby of the mountain dulcimer.
Ok. That helps. I’ll do that. And I’ll include a close up of the small split. It also has some neat imperfections that he likes to include in his pieces. Thank you sir
Thanks. I was asking the price to try to help you sell your dulcimer. Items seem to sell better on this site when a price or a price with 'or best offer' is listed in the ad.
Also thanks for explaining its need for repair. That is really important. Folks here seem to prefer up front honest disclosure if repairs are needed for damage that is not visible in the photos.
You may get more visibility by posting it in the For Sale area. Look under "forums" in the top banner and scroll down to the bottom for the for sale listing.
Hoping you the best in selling your dulcimer.
I know what i paid for it and I know what they currently sell their basic and advanced dulcimers presently that are hand made like this one Brad made. Make me an offer. I think it will have to have a slight repair made on the neck where it slightly split from lack of humidity . Probably a 50 dollar fix with glue and some clamps from someone who knows what they are doing.
That is a beautiful dulcimer. Can't wait to hear you make some beautiful music with it.
Thank you. Looking forward to it.
Just found out it's a Jim Good from Mastertone Dulcimers. Given he was about 10 miles from where I grew up, I wouldn't be surprised if he and dad knew each other.
Thank you very much, Richard. I'll be sure to check out your suggestions and look forward to being part of the group.
Thank you fow the nice welcome Richard. I am definitely going to the Beginners Group!
@Jim-Cadorette - I deleted your dulcimer for sale ad for you. Thanks for your donation. :)
Thank you for having me as a member, in the past I have built three CGB's and now thinking that building a Dulicmer might be a good idea. I will look for some plans and show the finished item when built.
Thanks Richard, no doubt, I will be "bugging" someone for info. You tube helps but it's not like speaking to those who are dedicated assisting others.
Thanks Richard. I've finally gotten around to replying to the messages received since I joined the group.
Thank you, Richard. I'm learning more every day! Glad to be here.
I am in the process of getting my first dulcimer, hoping to make a good decision. Thanks for allowing me to join the group.
