Hi Richard, thank you for the warm welcome! I'm from Japan and currently live here. In Japan, not many people play the mountain dulcimer, and there aren’t any events or communities for it. Even getting accessories like capos can be a challenge. I’m really looking forward to learning more about this instrument, and I appreciate the offer to ask questions. I’ll definitely reach out if I need any advice.

Thanks for the warm welcome.  Wayne Henderson from Carlisle, PA, got me hooked on the mountain dulcimer several years ago (after my wife had repeatedly encouraged me to give the dulcimer a try).  This is my first stringed instrument and although rhythmically challenged I seem to have a pretty good ear and enjoy playing.  We lived in Carlisle from 2015 to 2020 and played with Wayne and his wife Elissa.

We currently have 2 dulcimers made by Wayne and one made by Benjamin Stone.  The latter had been dropped and the neck broken.  Wayne was able to masterfully repair it and added mechanical tuners....I didn't have much success with the original tuner pegs.  It's a wonderful instrument.

Are there any dulcimer players near Warrenton, VA, that would like to get together and play.  I'm an advanced beginner.  I'm also a Patron of Bing Futch which allows me to share any of Bing's TAB music and MP3 recordings with folks I play with.
