It does sound full but not over-powering. I have just 3 drones that are tuned to the three over the fingerboard, tuned to DGd. I uploaded a short video

Irene, thank you and I think you will really enjoy building these also. I tune mine the way I tune my Dulcimers, DGd on the fingerboard, and then DGd tuning on the free drones. (It is similar to my Scottish Smallpipe tuning!)
