A Northern Cherry Dulcimer

musician/member name: People & Blogs
Duration: 00:01:23
Finished building this Mountain Dulcimer today, here is a first playing of it.
It is a four stringer, with a double melody string set-up. The mountain Dulcimer is all Northern Cherry, and has half Hourglass and half Elm leaf shaped body. 27"VSL and 2" deep.

Thanks Steven. I agree, Cherry has great sound! Nice crisp high notes and good lows as well.

That's a nice sounding dulcimer, Bob! I have an all-cherry dulcimer (built by Johnny Pledger) and it is one of my better sounding instruments. Cherry seems to be somewhat overlooked as a great tonewood (imo).
