You are correct, the timber came from a tree in Thornbury Castle, Glos, Eng. Built around the time that the Tudors were bumping people off, the tree was likely planted to provide Longbow staves ?
Amazing under the circumstances you are able to build a dulcimer. I remember when you first mentioned on chat that you had gotten the wood from an ancient yew tree from Thornburn Castle, I think you said. Anyway it sure looks stunning, and like everyone, can't wait to hear you play it.
