Good morning Heather Elaine! Yes, you get full marks for exploration of a new site skills, lol ! As for selling, I used to make both HD and MD on commission, but now that this ole body of mine keeps reminding me of how I have ill treated it thro' the years, I am content in making the things I want to, without pressure. In any case there are many makers of fantasic instruments around these days, I've even purchased a couple myself !
Well Heather Elaine King, see what you have created from backtracking old pictures, lol, I did warn you the other night !!! And that Wayne frequents the chat room as well, you know ! Cheryl, don't give up the day job, your eyes betray your intent
John Henry, your dulcimer sounds beautiful. Its a good thing I don't live closer to you. There would be a midnight dulcimer raid! The bass drone sounds really full and warm and the treble clear. Can't get much better than that! Thanks for directing me to this recording....it happened a few months before I arrived here. Happy I got to hear and see you dulcimer!
Cheryl ,just checked, it seems to work, tho' the quality is not good, must have been one of my lazy days when I used the web cam instead of the Zoom thingy ! Sorry
Hello Cheryl, thanks for showing an interest, this is one of my 'old faithfuls' got sorta pushed into thr background since I started making MD again. I am not good at transferring stuff on this contraption, but I hope that the info above will get you to the correct place ?
Since it popped up I had to have a look-see. JH the details on this dulcimer are exquisite.....I'm madly in love with fiddle edges and the finger board layering is beautiful feature. Is this dulcimer in any of your recordings? Would love to hear it.
Don't know why this one came to light, lol, but thanks for the interest ! Made in 1996 from timber I had 'lying around' (except for the fretb'rd). The spruce came from a short end of 2"x 4" I found in lying in my roof space when I moved into the house, absolutely bone dry, the walnut from a 19th table top which was being thrown out by a friend (it had been his great grannie's), and the scyamore was an offcut from a lute I had been making. The fingerboard is hollowed, and as I had just reread the book about Homer Ledford, I even incised lines around the edge of the top using a bent nail ! True, honest!

... the work of a true craftsman. Absolutely beautiful.
Beautiful JH a true work of ART!
Impressive!
I like the overhang fiddle back and top and that laminated fingerboard is very classy!
Is the fingerboard hollow?
