Rugby, Football , and now Tennis , never used to be like it back in the old days, sigh
Ever had a go at the pretty bit from Finlandia, goes well with this and has a similar sort of provenance. Quite a few hymns have been written for it, there's even one n Welsh.

Hello John! I just saw/heard this today for the first time, having just returned to the UK from our holiday in Canada. Very, very nice! And the quality from the Q3 is terrific (picture and audio).By the way, although you identify me as the person who "pointed you" at this tune, believe it or not I've actually never heard it sung as a hymn. The only sung version I know is the lovely 1930s record by the Boswell Sisters (which has a certain hymn-like quality). I've been told that Dvorak may have based it on an old Bohemian pipe tune, but I only heard this in a fairly second-hand sort of fashion, and I've got no actual evidence of this.

Hello Ken, thank you for your comment. It should be said that I was not offering as fact the tunes association with pipe music, only that claims are made that it originated from pilbroch sources? ( It seems to be often used by pipe bands as a lament)best wishesLohn

Lovely tune, lovely performance. Your Q3 is holding up its end as well.I hadn't heard that it might be an old pipe tune. One of Dvorak's students said that he composed the air de novo "in the manner of" a negro spiritual. I don't know the truth of it.

Beautiful tune, John H! I, too, can relate to getting nervous over being recorded. And your video and audio both come across great on my MacBook and my Phillips Fidelio speakers! On a side note, I've not had luck uploading videos from my computer directly to FOTMD-- wish I could get it figured out because my embedded videos (from ezFolk) aren't as good in quality as a video I could directly upload, I think.

Great going John Henry.Though I didn't notice your 'shakes', I totally relate to getting nervous too just knowing i'm getting recorded. It's nice to see you now 'escaped' into the lovely living room, too!

You are quite welcome, Mary Jo. If tablature exists for most tunes, I can usually find it.

Going Home... yikes, this is such a profoundly sad-sweet tune. I've heard it like on the radio when i was little...always makes me teary eyed.
England are playing a Test series in the cricket as well, though you'ld hardly notice.
I'll see about a recording of Finlandia next time I find the mic. I'm sure you'll recognize it.
