Yes, John I was surprised and so pleased to be able to watch Val play along with you, cause I know I have only heard audio of him. I don't know why I didn't find this wonderful video earlier, I have also watched all of yours several times and enjoy them each time.
Thought it would be nice for all our friends to see you and Val playing this nice song, so I popped it up twice.
Thank you Lexie, nice that you took the time to find us ! Val is a superb player, and did his best to cover my shortcomings !!! I think this is the only vid of him playing on this site?, but he has posted many fine tunes as audio only, well worth the listen should you care to search them out.
Ryan, you sure have been digging deep have'nt you!, lol. I was lucky to have Val there to drag me on, cos' we had very little time to record in, he was due to catch a plane back to Ireland shortly after !
Hi John! Very nice duet of a favorite tune of mine. Your version also serves as a reminder for me to slow it down a bit sometimes. I often get into the playing of tunes like this as kinds of "fingerdances" (for lack of a better term), and sometimes getting lost in the fingering comes at the expense of the tunefulness of the piece. Thanks for sharing this. I really enjoyed it.
Good morning John, thank you for your comment, it was my pleasure to be able to share some music with Val, particulary as it will probably never happen again that we are both in the same place at the same time !!!
It would be good if you lived a little nearer, I am lucky in that John Shaw lives quite near, in fact he will be coming here this afternoon (he wishes to show off yet another 'new ' dulcimer he has acquired)
Thank you gentlemen for your fine musical video and excellent choice of the great Turlough O'Carolan.
Nice to see two of our dulcimer web friends meeting up and enjoying a session together.
Wish I was there too,John T.

<<(and I still don't know how to post a tune to a specific place on this site, such as Call the tune, perhaps someone might post a step by step idiots guide for me !!!)>>Had to look this up, since I use YouTube instead of directly loading my videos, and the process isn't quite the same. Anyway, here it is, from the upload tutorial on the Call the Tune page:To link a video clip from a post that you've made to a forum or group1. Click the "Videos" tab and then click on the "My Videos" link. You'll see a thumbnail image and a link representing each video you have uploaded to FOTMD.2. Click on the thumbnail of the video that you want to link.3. Once the video opens, click on the link entitled "Get Embed Code".4. This will open a dialog box giving you two choices.(1) You can get a "Direct Link" to your video OR(2) You can get "HTML Embed Code" that allows you to embed a video player into your post.5. Copy one of these links and paste it into your post. When you save your post, it should contain either a text link or a video player link, depending on which of the options you chose in step 4.

Good morning Tom, thank you for the comments. I have for many years played Fanny Power on HD.(usually coupled with Planxty Irwin) and on the day Val spent a very short time with us it was the first tune that came into my head when we decided to play together, its a pity that we were so tied to a return flight time (sorry!!) because despite playing with my thumb I still managed to drown out the exquisite finger picking that Val did. I could have chosen a 'quieter' instrument. And yes, I have had many comments made about its title ,usually made by the members of the non folkie public who for some reason associate it with some form off 'Ladies Political Affiliation' to something or the other ! I shall look for your harmonica version now, (and I still don't know how to post a tune to a specific place on this site, such as Call the tune, perhaps someone might post a step by step idiots guide for me !!!)John

I really like this, and O'Carolan has long been my favorite composer. I've got a harmonica version of this on YT, but never learned it on dulcimer for some reason. I'll have to add it to the list. you might think about posting it over in Call the Tune.I've read that with the lady having such an unfortunate name, O'Carolan thought that writing a song for her was the least he could do.And today, folks often assume that a song named Fanny Power must be from the rap or hip-hop genre.

Very nice that you two got to play together and gee, wouldn't know that you had no rehearsal time.
