Good to hear from you Gwen, thank you for watching, and also for providing us with some 'history
best wishes
John
Lovely, John! A little history on the tune, in case anyone is interested - I found the melody in several places including P.W. Joyce's 1909 Old Irish Folk Music and Songs, in researching Fresh Airs - Irish Antiquities for Mountain Dulcimer. Joyce had it under the name "Nancy, the Pride of the West". It is also known as "My Ireland", but with England's past history of oppressive dominance in Ireland, many songs were sung with words of allegory, therefore, the title "For Ireland I'd Not Tell Her Name" (Ar Eirinn ni neosfainn ce hi). Legend states that this slow air is praising the magnificent beauty of a young maiden who appeared for only a short time to a Gaelic poet. He fell in love with her charm and beauty, but she resisted his amorous advances, then disappeared from him forever.
Hallo John, thank you for your nice music!
Sehr schn, bringt Ruhe und gute Laune.Danke Karel
Thank you Brian !
John
Beautiful playing of a tune I happen to love. Thanks for sharing John Henry.
Chuckle, here's hoping that Robin has smelling salts to hand in that case !Not sure whether 'thanks for comment' is an appropriate answer ? Sounds as if you are getting the miles in these days, good luck to you both, do it while you can !!! (get the miles in, that is !)
hugs to you both
John

Great to see you back, John.
Beautifully playing, really touching!
Thank you Strumelia, its truely good to be back. I don't get out much these days, shopping mainly, and so these little excursions into the dulcimer world really help . I am sure that I speak for others when I say that this site is an inspiration, so thanks to you
John
Patty, thank you for listening and being kind with your comments about my Virgina style dulcimer, I just wish that I had put wooden pegs on it ! Still, I like it , it has that 'old' feel to it ( due to the several hand rubbed applications of Spam grease I guess ,lol)
John Henry, that is a lovely tune. I'm so glad you had the time to post it. You have a beautiful dulcimer with a beautiful sound to match. You can do free interpretation all you want...your playing is excellent
Very beautifully played John Henry. What a lovely dulcimer, too!
So good to see you recording a tune again- we all missed it so much! You are an inspiration.
Thanks Robin, all a bit rushed, but things are a bit easier, some systems in place now ! Will try to get a package into the Post tomorrow.
John
(don't know why you're moaning about a hangover ! Chance would be a fine thing !!!)

John
Hey John,
Great to see you back with a dulcimer on your lap recording videos What a lovely gentle tune to nurse my hangover after Shrewsbury Folk Festival
Robin
That is a beautiful and haunting melody which is brought out so well by the noter drone style playing that you do so well, John!
Hey Dana, JK and KK, sorta missed thanking for watching somewhere along the way ! Appreciate that you took the time to comment !
And Dana, have a great weekend, remember, find time to ..e ! You gonna charge folks extra to get into your bedroom, (to view the wall, of course)
John
Wish we did live a smidgen closer Robin, I still have a yen to sit and play in that primitive gazebo you have in your yard, lol
our best to you both
John
Thanks for the explanation of bead tuners, John. I would think they would be a good option for people playing instruments with traditionalpeg tuners who want greater accuracy and ease of tuning butalso want to maintain the integrity of the original design of the instrument.
