Chuck...enjoyed that! No offense to the Kruger Brothers, who I don't know....but I like Rob's version....dulcimer and that nice low voice!! What can I say??
Sang it ma brutha! It was a song caught by Joseph Hall in the area which is now Waynesville....just up the road a piece from me. I've not heard it sung other than that recording and yours. I've got an mp3 of the original.....but its probably already in the Rob Lacky Smithsonian Collection of Music :) :) If not, let me know and I'll send it to you.

I really love this song Rob...it always reminds me of the movie "Raising Arizona"...Holly Hunter sings this to a baby for a lullaby...sweet dreams right?...LOL! Great job Rob! :)

As of right now I plan on being there. Was going to come and camp, but our band is booked to play a charity thing on Friday night, so we will plan on a fairly early arrival on Saturday. I am looking forward to getting together with y'all again!
Dan, Guy, Wayne, Joe & Brian... thank you very much. It's a song that's been in my repertoire for quite a while.
Mike.... Seems he wanted to get the job done and make sure she was gone forever; evidently something he had talked about before.
Rich.... Thank you for your most kind comments! I appreciate them very much.

John... I don't know if I'll make the Ledford Festival. I am (right now) planning on going to the Fraley Fest at Carter Caves State Park near Grayson, KY, the next weekend (I think.) Don't believe I can make both of them. As far as "Heard the Crash/Wreck on the Highway" goes, it is close to "Rosin the Beau," but the 2nd part goes differently enough. The 1st part is just about the same, though. Will you be coming to Wartz in October?
Carrie... If it hadn't been for you, I wouldn't have done it. Thanks very much for the idea and the comments!
Wow--I have been listening to a version of this tune for months. It was originally recorded at Allens Creek, Haywood County, North Carolina. It is on a Grammy-nominated CD called Old-Time Smoky Mountain Music. I have to say that I enjoyed your version every bit as much. Thanks for posting
Every time I hear that song, the term "overkill" comes to mind. First he poisons her, then he stabs her, then he throws her in the river for good measure.
I like it, though.

I didn't like it - NOT! :) Good job on that one Rob. They sure wrote a lot of different lyrics from the tune of "Rosin the Beau"!Scott

Cheryl - Here's a good version by the Kruger Brothers with Maynard Holbrook singing...
Wonderful Rob. Love the singing and playing, but especially the singing.
