I learned White Cockade from a record by banjo player Stephen Wade.A white cockade is a flower and was associated with Bonnie Prince Charlie somehow or the other. John Morgan (Tin Ear) knows the whole story.Chromatic dulcimer tuned DGBd key of G.
This is nice to revisit again. Well done Randy.
Thx Bobby. A fellow by the name of Dale London, here in Lincoln NE., made this dulcimer for me back in 1993. He made a few dulcimers and lot of guitars and banjos. He was the local luthier genius here. He had a lot of interests and was self educated to a high degree on many subjects. I liked to visit his shop occasionally b/c he was so interesting. But sometimes I bypassed it b/c he was so long winded...I knew I was gonna be there for over an hour! He died about 7 or 8 years ago and everyone in these parts misses him and talks about him. I am so fortunate to have his dulcimer.
Jacobite Troops had no formal uniform. The white cockade on a blue bonnet became their emblem. It is said to have originated when Bonnie Prince Charlie picked a wild rose and pinned it to his hat. I love the song about the White Cockade.
This is so nice Randy
Thx for listening Ken & Robin. "Relaxed & easy" is about the best compliment I ever received Ken....f'real.
Pretty, Randy. I guess you need all those frets for this tune.
That is simply beautiful. You make it sound relaxed and easy. Just wow!
