I like the cheap and cheesy sound of this fretless cigar box dulcimer. It's fun to play and it has an appealing cachet. The neighbor has one in the pasture next door, and a horse too, and I see them out the window of my music room. They're buddies! So the title seemed, like, appropriate.
I listened to that 1926 recording and it sounds like music from old movies and shows on tv (Saturdays) when I was a kid. And that band looked sharp!
Somehow, I missed this video you made in '15. I was living at my folks' a lot back then and didn't catch it here. Super good-- that fretless c'box sounds cool.

Listened to this tune couple times this evening liked it. : )
Love this! Your noter playing has always been one of my favorites and the tone of this was really appealing to me. Not cheesy at all.
That's funny John.....
Rick....I drilled holes between the boxes so they're connected.
Thanks for watching my friends.
Delighful! Really got a kick out of it.
Really enjoyed this, Randy! Do those boxes share a side or are they open to one another?
(I'll not let my wife see the title of your video--otherwise, the next time she hears me play a waltz, she might make a comment about the Jackass playing the waltz. Then again, she married the jackass, so there's that...)
*standing ovation*
I really like this lil tune of yours I listen to it every morning and wish I could play it and I also like the sound of your dulcimer
Really enjoyed this, Randy!
Sounds good, Randy - both the dulcimer and the playing!
I don't think it sounds cheap or cheesy. It has a deeper sound than I would imagine for a cigar box dulcimer. It sounds really good. Your playing is always excellent. Thanks for sharing with us
I like to see a mule and a horse out the music room window! I had to hunt them down this evening to take their pic as they were in the corner of the pasture. It's been windy and they don't like it so they go over in the trees.
Thx for watching and commenting my friends...you make it worthwhile....f'real...
Here I am waiting for Kevins' Tignor, can't wait; just been looking at John Henry's new creation, fantastic; then I flick to The Jackass Waltz and find Randy steeling the show. Kudos Mr. Adams.
Randy, that dulcimer and your playing really turned my crank. Loved it
Randy, love it! It's such a mellow sound. And kind of close to the fiddle sound you were looking for a couple of weeks ago...
Randy, I love your cheap cigar fretless dulcimer, I think it has a great sound. It does look like lots of fun.
It is a great song and good title also.
Nothing cheap or cheesy sounding about that and the playing is brill. too.
That's really outstanding! Randy, you da man!
Well I think the sound you get is far from cheap and cheesy. And I love your work on the fretless. Really enjoyable. I don't believe your story about the neighbor's animals. Who is this song really about?
Nice sound and nice tune.
