John Henry, today happened to be the first day I saw anyone rip a board with a hand saw, and now you post this pic! My brother and dad first tried with a table saw, didn't quite reach the middle. Then they used a bandsaw, again blade wore out while cutting in from each end, not quite getting to the middle in the other dimension. Then my brother used a hand saw to cut the middle. And first they cut the board to length with a chop saw. Now I know why guys have so many different types of saws! It was a rough cut sassafras board that was stored in the barn for 20+ years. The shop sure smelled good while they were cutting. Have you ever worked with sassafras. How is it for dulcimer building?
John, John, John ... thought I was the only one that ripped dulcimer lumber with a hand saw. Makes me appreciate your finished dulcimer even more. Rewarding isn't it? Great job.
Great picture John Henry! Gives a real good feel for your workshop and your craftsmanship. Keep it up!
