I use peg dope.   In NC where I live there is low humidity in the winter and the wood pegs have a difficult time staying in tune. In the summer and fall the wooden pegs tune and hold well.

Thank you, glad to be here.  I've already learned a lot here.  I found my way here while searching for how to tune my AW Jeffreys dulcimer with slipping wooden pegs.  Found several possible solutions, and hope to learn more.

Thank you so much. Do you know of a good source of sheet music for my DAA dulcimer?  I like baroque, renaissance, folk tunes, etc.  Also, I have discovered that using my fingers instead of the noter is more comfortable due to some arthritis.  I guess that’s legal? Ha

Thank you.  I've loved dulcimers for years and finally I've now decided that perhaps I can learn.  Never too old to teach a dog new tricks!  I'm already finding out just how friendly everyone is.

I have a small collection of electric and acoustic guitars as well as cigar box guitars and violin (some of which I built myself). I also build all my own vacuum tube guitar amplifiers.

I have a BSEE from Virginia Tech earned when vacuum tubes were still part of the curriculum. I retired 4 years ago from my job as a Satellite Communications Systems Engineer contractor with the CIA. I worked in the Intelligence Community for 40+ years. My wife and I retired to Natural Bridge Virginia in 2019.
